PRESS RELEASE
Free Campus Concert Brings Milwaukee Indie Rock Bands to Lewis
Lewis University
October 8, 2026
ROMEOVILLE, IL — As part of a senior capstone, the Lewis University Music Department invites students, staff, and faculty to a student-led DIY concert on Friday, November 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the Flyers Den. The entire Lewis community is encouraged to gather together, enjoy live music, and build a deeper sense of connection and belonging on campus.
This showcase will be held in the Flyers Den, a campus landmark for generations of Lewis students. This space will be transformed once again as a high-energy music venue, and the ultimate casual hangout zone where the entire campus can disconnect from academics and build real, face-to-face connections with their peers. This concert uses the power of live music to bridge engagement gaps and unite the diverse Lewis University community under one roof.
To bring the authentic energy of an underground venue to campus, the concert features two of the most electric, rising bands from Milwaukee’s hyper-collaborative DIY music scene.
Headlining the night is In Shining Armour, an alternative rock duo composed of singer/guitarist Seth Kaplan and drummer Aidan Hoppens. Formed out of mutual desire to make original music rather than chasing social media algorithms, they have quickly become a staple of the Midwest indie-emo scene. What makes them a must-see is the physics of their performance. This two-piece band generates a massive, distorted wall of sound, making it easy to mistake them for a much larger band. Their blend of early 2000s emotional indie hooks and heavy garage-rock revival speaks directly to a college audience craving music that is real, passionate, and loud.
Joining them is Teenage Ice Age, a dynamic four-piece group that channels nostalgia through their powerful post-grunge, shoegaze style of music. Their background is deeply rooted in independent music spaces that value community. Their music captures the exact mood of current-day college culture: a mix of ‘90s-inspired vintage grunge and high-intensity live performance.
These genres are exciting for a university crowd because it's raw, energetic, and accessible. On this night, the Flyers Den will come alive as a place where music, culture, and community meet.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m, and music will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free, and all Lewis University students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to come hang out, have some food, and experience a unique community night together.
